St. Anthony of Padua, born in 1195, is one of the most well-known of the Franciscan saints. Many people know St. Anthony as the saint who helps us find things we have lost or misplaced. But there are many other wonderful things to learn about this saint who had the happiness of holding the Infant Jesus in his arms.
St. Anthony wanted to work as a missionary in Africa, but illness prevented him. Later, when his superiors sent him to preach in France, great miracles began to happen. Reading this story about St. Anthony of Padua can help us see that happiness is not found by doing what we want to do, but by doing what God wants us to do!
