On December 9, 1531, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared on Tepeyac Hill in Mexico to an Indian named Juan Diego. She asked him to tell the bishop that she wanted a church built there. But the bishop was skeptical when he heard the news.
The Blessed Virgin then told Juan to pick a bunch of roses that were blooming on the hill in the middle of winter. Juan carried the roses in his tilma and when he opened his cloak to show the bishop, all could see an image of Our Lady imprinted there! Reading this story can encourage us to follow in the footsteps of St. Juan Diego, who never doubted the Blessed Virgin, but did everything that Our Lady asked him to do.
