Tom Wattson was born in Maryland in 1863. He became an Anglican minister like his father and dreamed of creating a preaching community within the Episcopal church. Taking on the new name of Father Paul, he founded the Society of the Atonement at Graymoor, New York, with the help of Mother Lurana, an Anglican nun.
Father Paul established the Church Unity Octave to say prayers each January for the unity of all Christians. In 1909, Father Paul and his Anglican community converted to Catholicism. Reading this story can encourage us to follow in the footsteps of Father Paul of Graymoor, who worked to spread the Faith and bring unity to the Church.
