David was a young shepherd boy when Samuel anointed him to be the successor to King Saul. Later, David went to the royal court to play music on his harp and to sing his beautiful psalms to help comfort the unhappy king. David became a hero when he slew the giant, Goliath, using a sling and a stone.
When David became king, he tried his best to please God. However, he fell into serious sin. After David was confronted by the prophet Nathan, he repented of his sin and received God’s forgiveness. Reading this story can encourage us to follow in the footsteps of King David, who acknowledged his sinfulness and sought to love God with all his heart.
