St. Hubert was the eldest son of the Duke of Aquitaine. Born in 657, in what is now known as France, he loved riding and hunting, especially stag and deer hunting. He was an archer with great skill. Here was a boy who someday would be a great leader in the church – but during his youth this was the farthest thing from his mind.
St. Hubert is known as the Archer saint and is their patron. He is also the patron saint of hunters, trappers, forest workers, mathematicians, opticians and metalworkers. We celebrate his feastday on November 3rd.
