As you continue to discern or embark on homeschooling, we encourage you to find some saints to guide you or to serve as role models as a homeschooling parent. Saints Francis de Sales, Isidore of Seville, and Thomas Aquinas are great models and intercessors to look to for help and inspiration and to guide you on this journey.

Patron for Writers and Teachers

Referred to as the “Gentle Doctor,” Saint Francis de Sales was renowned for his patience, wisdom, and ability to communicate complex theological truths in a clear and accessible way. As the patron saint of writers and teachers, he is an excellent role model for parents tasked with imparting knowledge to their children. His Introduction to the Devout Life is an essential read for growing in holiness.

Patron of the Internet

Saint Isidore of Seville is the patron saint of the internet. St. Isidore was named intercessor of the internet by Pope John Paul II for his extensive writing and teaching. In today’s world of abundant online resources, St. Isidore can guide you in navigating the digital world wisely and helping you choose the best tools and materials for your child’s needs.

Call upon St. Isidore for help in researching curricula, exploring new teaching methods, and using technology to enrich your child’s education. With his guidance, you can direct the vast information available towards your child’s comprehensive development and education.

Patron of Students and Study

Remember St. Thomas Aquinas, the esteemed “Angelic Doctor” and patron of academics and students. When facing challenging subjects or new teaching endeavors, seek St. Thomas’s guidance for wisdom and clarity to simplify and teach effectively.

Allow St. Thomas to inspire you to approach education with intellectual rigor, always seeking the truth that will set your children free. His life’s work is a testament to the harmony of faith and reason. This harmony is one you can strive to cultivate in your own home

These three saints exemplify many of the virtues homeschooling parents and families look to emulate through their schooling journey, making them great role models on your journey. That being said, we are blessed by the communion of saints, so don’t feel limited by this list. Most importantly, your family should find a saint or two that speaks to your own values and goals for homeschooling. Whoever you find as the best role model for your family, by calling on their intercession, you are sure to find peace and aid as you pursue your own sainthood while homeschooling!
